To Experience and Enjoy God
To Encourage and Equip the Body
To Evangelize in Word, Deed, and Life.
Encourage and Equip
"And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; …we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ, from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love." (Ephesians 4:11-12, 15-16)
In the overall vision statement of our church, we speak of the desire to be "nurtured and empowered" by Jesus. Here we use the words Encourage and Equip, but the idea is the name. We recognize that as a body we are going to need to support, love, and ENCOURAGE one another if we are going to be an effective body, and if we are going to be able to live the as Christians in this world. Jesus left one other with the encouragement to be one in unity and to love one another, and we try to do in every small group through the sharing of personal burdens and joys, through the study of God's world, and by living in close fellowship with one another. In this type of fellowship, and in an environment of love, we also try to equip one another, that we might be able to better serve in our world. Paul said it best in Eph 4:11-13: The gifts he gave were that some would be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until all of us come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to maturity, to the measure of the full stature of Christ." Each of us has a place in the body of Christ, and as we are equipped, we can learn how to use those gifts best for God's Glory, both in the home group, and everywhere else as well!
Evangelize in Word, Deed, and Life
Matthew 28:18-20: "And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age." It is our desire to follow this command in this ministry by making disciples! God has always called us to be mission focused, not just holding on to what we know for ourselves but passing it along to whoever God brings us too. While the word Evangelism is a loaded word these days, we are still excited about it, seeing it as an opportunity to follow Jesus' commands by making disciples. It evangelizing in Word, Deed, and life, we are committed to follow Jesus with everything we have, and Jesus was always going to other and sharing God's love and truth. He said that we are the salt of the earth, and the light of the world, and we are blessed by this, not cursed! Let us follow our Lord example, and love others complete, caring for their needs, loving our enemies, and sharing the Good news of our God come near!
